The 10 Keys to Personal Power
Brian Tracy

Key 1: Clarity
“Have vision. Determine what you want to be, do or have in life. Have a sense of direction and know where you’re going. If you do not have clear specific goals in life, you are doomed forever to work with others who do.”

Reflection: Make sure that as you grow you exactly know what you want in life. It will help you so much knowing because while you’re in high school you will be on top of your game and will know what you need to do to get to your goal. If you don’t even have goals it’s going to suck for you in the future because you aren’t going to be accomplishing your dreams but helping others that do. Make sure you clearly know what you are doing in life so you can lead yourself through the right path throughout your future.

Key 2: Competence
"If you commit to excellence, opportunities will always come your way. The harder you work, the better you get."

Reflection: It is good to commit and not give up on your goals because when you accomplish them you will always be rewarded. Work hard all the time because the harder you work the better you'll get and the more opportunities you'll have. Make sure to always have a positive attitude even when you want to give up. Just keep pushing yourself because you will get to it. Just remember to put all you effort and commitment because with out effort it will not happen.

Key 3: Concentration
"Make the best use of your time. Ask yourself "Is this the best use of my time?" before you start anything."

Reflection: Make sure you commit to whatever you are doing and make time for it. Also make sure if it is actually important and not a waste of time because if it is a waste of time then you do much more better things with your time. Don't goof around just concentrate so you can get stuff done faster and understand what you are doing. It is bad if you don't concentrate because then you won't understand and lose track of what you are doing.

Key 4: Common Sense
Train your mind to think things through .Listen to your intuition.

Reflection: Whenever you come up to a tricky situation make sure to always think through what you are deciding on. Don't just choose right away without thinking about the pros and cons. Many decisions can lead to some consequences you do not want to face so always be careful on what you decide on. Also always choose what you want not what someone tells you.

Key 5: Creativity
"Except the fact that every human being is a genius. The hallmark of creativity is asking questions. The people who are most creative ask the most questions."

Reflection: Every person in this world is smart and has their own ways of thinking. Expressing you creativity is a great example of how intelligent you are. Everyone is creative in their own ways for example through art or how they build things. But the people that are most creative are the ones that ask questions. They expand their knowledge by asking questions because soon they'll get an answer from it and they will learn.

Key 6: Consideration
"The quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life."

" Develop the people skills you need to become a better communicator. Take courses in listening, speaking, etc."

"If you were to learn one new word a day, within 5 years, you'll be the best educated person in history."

Reflection: Whenever you speak to others make sure you are always listening to them never interrupt the speaker. Make sure to remember their name. Remember to always look then in their eyes. All these little tips will help you have a better relationship with people. Its good to have great communicating skills because more people will be fond of you and that will lead to great relationships. And having great relationships will help you become a good educated person because you will always learn something new from them.

Key 7: Consistency
"Dependable, steady predictable work is always superior to fast spurts of work."

"Be consistent in your relationships, your family, friends, your boss, your work. Be the person that people can depend upon. That if you say you'll do something you do it."

Reflection: Consistency is a very important key. People want someone that will be consistent and will show up to work for example. If the person doesn't show up to work would they even want to hire them? People want to be able to depend on you so prove to them that if you set your mind to do something you will commit to it and you will prove to them that you can do it. Don't just quit, push yourself to commit to something.

Key 8: Commitment
"No success is possible without commitment. The ability to commit yourself whole heartily is the basis of achieving all success."

"Become totally absorbed in your work. Be totally committed."

Reflection: If you never commit to your goals you will never achieve them because you won't be consistent with them and these are two huge keys into achieving your goals. It is important for you to always be trying to do your best and giving it your all 100% of the time. Be into your work have interest with it and always commit to working on it or doing stuff that will help you achieve it. Whenever you wan to apply to anything just always keep in mind that they are looking for someone that is committed with their work and is consistent. There is no point to accept someone that won't be committed they will just be wasting their time.

Key 9: Courage

"The fear of failure is the single greatest reason for failure in life."
Reflection: Never be scared of failure because if you continue giving yourself that type of motivation then you will fail. Have courage in whatever you are doing. Never give up no matter how scared you are. Just give it a try it won't hurt and then if you didn't like it well now you know so you won't do it next time. Keep pushing.

Key 10: Confidence
"The fear of failure is the single greatest reason for failure in life."

Reflection: Never be afraid of what you are doing. Always have confidence. It will make you look so much more stronger. For example in color guard for our drill performances they always tell us to be confident about our routine so that the judges can see that. It'll make us look stronger as a team as well. Being afraid of something will only follow up to not doing it or failing.

Reflection:
These ten keys can benefit anyone because they are all great things we should all do in our life and they make us grow into becoming a better person. The key I am applying right now is concentration. I am concentrating in this class to do my work and get a good grade. This key is making a huge difference in my academic life by allowing me to understand what is going on in my class and my surroundings. Also it is helping me understand any lesson that is being taught by the teacher.I will incorporate the other keys into my life planning by reminding my self to be courageous, committed, consistent, and confident about any of my goals because I can do whatever I set my mind to. Also no one can tell me otherwise.
